Nattami Introductory Workshop

Join us for the Introductory Workshop of a pioneering research and advocacy initiative led by the Lalith Athulathmudali Advanced Research Centre (LAARC) in affiliation with the Sri Lanka Law College, focusing on the rights, recognition, and legal reform surrounding informal workers—starting with the Nattamis of Pettah.

Nattamis, the manual labourers who move the commercial engine of Pettah, remain largely invisible in Sri Lanka’s legal, economic, and social frameworks. This workshop marks the formal launch of a multi-phased project that seeks to examine their role in the informal economy, understand their lived realities, and advocate for inclusive legal and policy solutions.
