Internships

Join Us @ LAARC

At the Lalith Athulathmudali Advanced Research Centre (LAARC), internships are not just pathways into research—they are immersive learning experiences embedded within live, impactful projects. Interns are integrated into our ongoing initiatives in legal reform, youth mentorship, public education, and socio-political research, contributing meaningfully to the work shaping Sri Lanka’s future.

Our internship programme is hybrid by design—combining the flexibility of online collaboration with the value of onsite immersion. Whether you’re participating in field research, supporting public outreach campaigns, joining policy discussions, or contributing to content creation, you’ll have both remote and in-person opportunities to engage deeply with LAARC’s mission.

Why Intern @ LAARC

Interning at LAARC means being part of a purpose-driven team that bridges research and reform. From the streets of Pettah to policy roundtables, from youth mentorship workshops to expert podcasts—you’ll be part of projects that connect lived realities with national dialogue.

You won't be doing busywork; you’ll be helping to rethink labour protections, support undergraduates across Sri Lanka, build civic knowledge, and design forward-thinking policy tools. Every task you take on is tied to a larger vision of evidence-based change.

Personal Growth

At LAARC, interns are given real responsibility from day one—engaging with live projects, asking critical questions, and shaping ideas that matter. We create a space for reflection and learning, encouraging interns to build self-awareness, resilience, and confidence in their voice. Initiative is valued here; whether you’re designing tools, drafting content, or exploring policy, your contributions are taken seriously.

Career Development

Internships at LAARC are hands-on and intellectually challenging. You’ll work closely with experienced mentors while sharpening your skills in writing, critical analysis, facilitation, and communication. With opportunities to contribute to meaningful national conversations, interns gain exposure to professional networks, build practical competencies, and lay a strong foundation for future academic or career pursuits.
