Pettah Walk-in Study (Phase I)

As part of the first phase of the Nattami Social Impact Research Project, a couple of on-ground walk-in study will take place, where the research team will visit Pettah and interact directly with Nattamis to gather first-hand insights into their work, challenges, and perspectives on employment formalization. Rather than focusing on legal technicalities that Nattamis may not fully understand or feel comfortable discussing—such as wages, work hours, and formal employment structures—the study will take a more open-ended approach. Researchers will engage in conversations that center around the Nattamis’ aspirations for the future, their daily struggles, and their views on what would improve their livelihoods. This method will provide a more authentic understanding of their perspectives without making them feel scrutinized or pressured.
